Meet The Roxy

Years With Milestone

1936 The Roxy Theatre opens its doors on Main Street, a 280‑seat, single‑screen Art‑Deco movie house that quickly becomes Shelby’s go‑to gathering spot. Cinema Treasures

1940s‑1990s Saturday matinees, first‑run Westerns, and summer kids’ programs make the Roxy a Hi‑Line tradition. Locals still recall the glow of its neon blade sign after wheat‑harvest double‑features.

2000 Following the passing of its original owner, Polson Theatres purchases the building, renovates the auditorium, upgrades projection and sound, and re‑brands it “Roxy Cinema.” Cinema TreasuresThe Library of Congress
